Aloo ( potato) stuffed paratha is fail safe combination, paratha is one of the most popular recipe from Punjab. Aloo  paratha which I am presenting here is very simple and easy to make. In Punjab the parathas are made with lots of ghee and then served with dollops of white butter or makhan, which easily available in almost every home.

Serves                                                 8-10 parathas


Oil or ghee                          For roasting parathas

INGREDIENTS   (for stuffing)

Boiled potato                                     3-4

Green chilies                                       1-2

Red chili powder                              ½ Tsp

Garam masala powder                  ½ Tsp

Amchur powder                               ½ Tsp

Chopped coriander leaves             2-3 Tbsp

Salt                                                        To taste

INGREDIENTS ( for outer layer )

Whole wheat flour                           2 cups

Salt                                                      ½  Tsp

Oil                                                        2 Tsp


Mix the flour with salt and oil. Add water to knead a small- smooth dough. Cover it and let the dough rest for 15-20 min.


Peel the boiled potatoes and mash or grate it. Add all stuffing ingredients….. Crushed green chilies, Red chili powder, Garam masala powder, Amchur powder, Finely chopped coriander leaves and salt. Mix well and uniformly all ingredients. Divide the stuffing mixture into equal portions.



Divide the dough into equal portions. Roll a portion of the dough into small circle. Place a portion of stuffing in the Centre of the circle. Bring together all the sides in the centre and seal tightly. Dust some flour on rolling board and roll it again the paratha gently. Heat a tawa or (griddle ) pan, Cook the paratha on medium heat. Apply ghee or oil on Aloo paratha, roast until golden brown spots appears on both the sides. Repeat the procedure to make more parathas.

Serve immediately with curd or pickle.
